Help Wayüu children study science in their own language

Hello everyone!

My name is Daniel Pedrozo, I am 32 years old and I live in the city of Riohacha, in the north of Colombia. I am currently studying the career of Multimedia Production Technologist.

In northern Colombia, They Live Wayüu community, native american. I want to help them to get a better knowledge by give them book that written in their own language!

Knowledge for Wayüu indigenous children

Wayüu community is a native american that living in the peninsula of La Guajira, in northern Colombia and northwest Venezuela.

About 200.000 People living there. The people still speak in Wayüunaikii, but mostly the educational book or school are written deliver in spanish language. Because of that, the education became difficult to deliver since the language are different.

I want Wayüu children could get a good education but also not forgetting about their own native language.

Educational books an short documentary in Wayüu language

With the funds raised, I want to finance the production of short documentary videos and illustrated brochures in the Wayüunaikii language, with topics on natural sciences, astronomy, technology, history, art and mathematics. All focused on a simple language and with supporting images, with great power of narration and entertainment for children and young Wayüu. In this way they will be able to reinforce their school knowledge and at the same time promote the use of their Native American language so that it does not disappear.

So, this is my plans : beside i want produce school books with 30 pages in it and we will distribute for free in the libraries of the schools at La gujiara, i also want to make a short documentary video about teaching material: short videos and brochures on the topics. The videos will be uploaded to the internet for free viewing. The brochures will be distributed free throughout the Guajira region.

It is a process that requires the advice of professionals in the field, printing costs and distribution to libraries and schools throughout the area of influence of the project. I have already a team but we stuck at financial aid to realize this plans

This field need various professional, the cost is high

As everybody know, It is a process that requires the advice of professionals in the field, printing costs and distribution to libraries and schools throughout the area of influence of the project.

Translating, designing, editing, printing and for distributing all product will cost a lot. This is the reason i raising this fund, not for myself but it will help the Wayüu indigenous children and youth of La Guajira have a better future.

Schedule and cost

If all going well, we will use the collected funds as soon as possible to start to make the design of book, and do the translation to Wayüunaikii language. we need about $1500 that will be use for all requirement from translating, printing about 1000 books, transporting it to the peninsula of La Guajira, and for make the educational video too.

Even if i couldn't get the full target, i will keep to make this project realized for the wayuu children sake!
